Free Family Fishing Festival
Saturday, 6/2/12

The Upper Andro Anglers Alliance in co-operation with Trout Unlimited will host a free family fishing festival on Saturday, June 2.  The festival will be held at Angevine Park on the North Road in Bethel, from 9 am to 2 pm, rain or shine. Free casting workshops and fly-tying instruction will be available throughout the day.  Families can practice newly learned casting skills in the one acre pond and are welcome to take home their catch.Kids can learn how to tie flies with materials provided by local outfitters and fly shops. Children will be able to take home their hand-tied flies.

Trek Across Maine
Thursday, 6/14/12 - Sunday, 6/17/12
Join over two thousand others who come to enjoy three days of cycling from Sunday River to Maine coast to benefit the American Lung Association.  A non-refundable, non-transferable $55 registration fee must be paid at the time of registration and each Trekker is required to have a fundraising minimum of $500.  You can register online or email Trek to receive a hard copy of the form. Once you have registered, you can use their online services to promote your fundraising and to track your progress. Call 800-LUNG-USA for more info. 23rd Annual Bethel Art Fair

The feature of this 4th of July weekend of arts, cultural events and activities in the greater Bethel area, the 23rd Annual Bethel Art Fair is produced by the Mahoosuc Arts Council and will be held on the historic Bethel Common from 9 AM to 4 PM featuring over 70 of the finest artists and artisan crafters of Western Maine and beyond. Artists and artisans will be exhibiting oil, pastel, watercolor, pen and ink, and multi-media paintings, photography, woodworking, metal smithing, jewelry, beadwork, stained glass, pottery, and much. Sunday River Bike Park MTB Open Downhill Race

New England Forest Rally

The fastest cars on dirt converge at Sunday River for two days of racing on the back roads of western Maine and northern New Hampshire. The 21st annual New England Forest Rally marks the 5th Rally America National Championship in a series of six rallies in 2012, and it's the last rally just before the Summer X Games. Always a competitor favorite due to its challenging roads and stiff competition, Sunday River will welcome back the sport’s top competitors including last year’s NEFR Champion Antoine L’Estage, 2011 Rally America Super Production class champion and 3rd Overall Travis Hanson, 2011 Rally America 2WD class champion Wyatt Knox and 3x Rally America 2WD Champion, and last year’s NEFR 2WD winner Chris Duplessis.

13th Annual Maine European Motorcycle Meet

Join motorcycle enthusiasts from around the state as they gather at Sunday River to embark on vintage tours, adventure tours, and rides through the western mountains. You'll be hanging out with your motorcycle kin while you check out displays at the Jordan Grand Resort Hotel that include BMW, Triumph, Ducati, Ural, and more. The $12,550 Sunday River Open Dart Tournament

Wife Carrying Championship
Saturday, 10/6/12 - Saturday, 10/6/12

The 13th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship has been scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2012! Last year's event brought 3,000 spectators to Sunday River to watch 50 teams compete for cash and prizes. Congratulations to Rocco Andreozzi from Bethel, Maine, and Kim Wasco from Farmington, Maine, for winning the championship with a time of 49.64 seconds. They got major bragging rights, plus Kim's weight in beer and five times her weight in cash. Registration will open in September.

Fall Festival Weekend

The unofficial kick-off to winter, Fall Festival, comes to Sunday River October 6 and 7. Come celebrate the end of summer with live music, a wine tasting, the always entertaining North American Wife Carrying Championship, the New Mountain Raid competition, the 29th Annual Blue Mountain Arts & Crafts Fair and a full array of activities for the whole family. Mountain Raid (aka Mountain Epic)

Exciting news! The Mountain Epic Trail Races are now part of the Mountain RAID and RAID Series. The RAID Series is comprised of three unique obstacle races that take place in downtown Portland, the beaches of Kennebunk, and the mountains at Sunday River. These events will challenge your physical fitness, your mental stamina, and your ability to adapt to unique conditions and landscapes. Offering outstanding venues and large scale obstacles such as cargo nets, monkey bars, stair climbs, sand bag carries, tire fields and much more, the RAID Series is designed for athletes who want a high quality racing experience focused on performance and personal accomplishment. We will still have the 4 mile and 12 mile trail races in the morning. In the afternoon, we will start the 4 mile obstacle race.
