Summer Mountain Report
Today at Sunday River
Welcome to summertime at Sunday River. Snow is quickly giving way to green grass and soon enough, we’ll be taking to the 20 miles of bike trails and award-winning Sunday River Golf Course.
If you’re already in busy summer planning mode, here are some tidbits to consider. The Sunday River Golf Club typically opens late spring and as soon as they do we’ll update you with more information here. As for summer activities like mountain biking, zipline tours, geocaching, disc golf and our bungee trampoline, we’ll officially open those on Friday, June 21 from 10am until 4 pm. From that point in time, our summer operating schedule will be Fridays through Sundays from 10am until 4pm as well as holidays.
Now that you understand our schedule, let’s work on filling yours with fun summer events! The Trek Across Maine kicks off its 180-mile bike tour on Friday, June 14, leaving from Sunday River to the sea. And speaking of bike events, Sunday River is hosting three major Maine State Champion events for the Eastern States Cup. From SuperD to the newer Enduro-style, cash, prizes, and points are on the line for some of the world’s best bikers. If running is more your thing, check out the action taking place Saturday, July 20, during our annual Tough Mountain Challenge. The event is sold out, but it’s both free and fun to be a spectator. And last (but certainly not least) there’s the always popular North American Wife Carrying Championship. Registration for this crazy event will be announced later this summer. Stay tuned!
And for those of you not wanting to give up on winter just yet, it’s ok – we’re of similar mindset. Take solace in our plans for next winter and make sure that you’re ahead of us announcing our opening day for the 2013/14 season by purchasing a season pass now.
See you here June 21!
