The Sunday River Mountain Bike Park is a downhill playground with 25 trails of lift-serviced downhill terrain that stretches out for over 20 miles. Our terrain is best suited to intermediate and advanced riders, but this year we've also added a new bike school and cross-country loop for new or beginner riders.
Intermediate riders can choose between moderate single track options, slick rock, and even jump lines and flow trails. Options in the park really open up for advanced riders with plenty of technical single track, steep downhill trails, and manufactured terrain options. Over the last few years the park crew has been hard at work adding new trails and creating machine-built terrain including jumps, berms and flow trails, and adding log and bridge work. Check out the footage and photos here for a taste of what the park has to offer. If you haven't visited Sunday River for a few years, now's the time to come back and find out what you've been missing.
The bike park is serviced by Sunday River's Chondola lift, which provides high-speed access to a trail network that covers the North Peak and South Ridge areas of the resort with longer trails branching out from the primary trail network. In addition to downhill terrain, the park also offers a selection of trails suitable for XC riding.
For new riders or beginners looking to improve, check out our new Mountain Bike School. Utilizing a new fleet of rental bikes, a pump track and a 1.5k cross-country loop the bike school offers one- and two-hour clinics that include bike rental, protective gear and instruction. Two-hour clinics end with a lift ride and guided run down through the bike park if riders are ready to tackle the steeper lift-serviced terrain. Class spaces are limited and reservations are recommended: call 800-543-2754.
The Bike Park is open 10am to 4pm, Fridays through Sundays from June 21 to October 14, 2013, plus the Fourth of July, Labor Day (9/2/13) and Columbus Day (10/14/13). Lift tickets, bike rentals and repair, food and beverage, and all other bike services are based out of Sunday River Sports in the South Ridge Lodge. The bike park will be closed for the Tough Mountain Challenge on Saturday, July 20, 2013.
*Please note that only bikes with front and rear brakes are permitted to load the lift, and full-suspension bikes are recommended for the majority of the bike park terrain. We offer a fleet of full-suspension downhill mountain bike rentals from Kona.
