*New Spruce Peak Chairlift
Sunday River Resort plans to replace it's Spruce Peak Triple chairlift and is currently building a new top terminal on Locke Mountain for the Locke Mountain Triple chairlift. Both the new chairlift and top terminal are manufactured by Doppelmayr USA, Inc. The top terminal on Locke Mountain is expected to open in November. 

During the Spruce Peak Triple replacement interim, Spruce Peak terrain will open as conditions allow and can be accessed by the Aurora Peak Quad to Borealis and Sirius trails. *Updated 9.15.16

Snowmaking and Snow Grooming Upgrades
Sunday River's snowmakers were named by Ski Area Management Magazine as the 2016 recipient of the HKD I AM A Snowmaker Award, after one of the worst winters on record in New England. This winter Sunday River will invest in new and replacement equipment for the coming season, will renovate its existing pumphouse, and purchase two new Pistenbully snowcats.

By numbers, Sunday River boasts over 2,000 snowguns, 80 miles of snowmaking pipe, 30 miles of snowmaking hose, 2,200 hydrant stations, and has invested over $7 Million in snowmaking equipment in the last decade alone. The two new snowcats will join the resort's pride to keep man-made and natural snow conditions prime across all eight peaks from the resort's earliest opening in October to its latest last day in May. 

The New Mountain Room by Chef Harding Lee Smith
Through a new partnership with Maine restaurateur Chef Harding Lee Smith, Sunday River will transform overflow seating space in its mid-mountain Peak Lodge on North Peak to house The Mountain Room at Sunday River. Phase one of The Mountain Room will include a 20-person bar where signature drinks like Smith's ode to Sunday River, the Happy Place Found—a concoction of top shelf bourbon, blueberry jam, banana, rosemary, and soda water—will be served alongside an extensive menu of cocktails, craft brews, and a short menu of appetizers.

Phase two of The Mountain Room, to be completed for the 2017-18 season, will include finalizing the entire restaurant space to open for lunch and dinner. The Mountain Room at Sunday River joins Chef Smith's collection of restaurants known as The Rooms Restaurants: The Front Room, The Corner Room, The Grill Room, and Boone's. The Mountain Room is Smith's only restaurant located at a ski resort and not in Portland, Maine.  

Food Trucks Continue to Flock to the Slopes
Skiers and riders will be happy to hear that the Maine-ly Meatball food truck will again park itself at the base of the resort's Jordan Bowl for the 2016-17 season. Maine-ly Meatballs to offer classic beef, pork, and veggie meatballs to skiers on the go. In the South Ridge base area, newcomer The SaltBox Café—Maine's only tiny house food truck on wheels—will deliver weekend made-to-order specials like their French toast croissant and made to order breakfast sandwiches and burritos, for looking for a quick bite before hitting the slopes.

Snow Cap Inn Welcomes Dogs
New this winter, Sunday River's Snow Cap Inn will welcome guests and their canine friends, thanks to six dedicated dog-friendly rooms. Located a short walk from the resort's slopes, the Snow Cap Inn features 70 guest rooms with two queen beds at affordable rates. All dog guests will be given a treat at check-in, and are welcome to stay in their owner's room while the owner is out playing.
