Sunday River Resort Hires Ryan MacCallum as Terrain Parks Manager

New website dedicated to terrain park safety to launch this season

Press Release

Newry, ME (Winter 2016-17)—Ryan MacCallum will step into the role of Terrain Parks Manager at Sunday River Resort for the coming winter season. A former terrain park groomer at Vail Resort in Colorado, MacCallum has big ideas for amplifying the resort’s extensive system of seven terrain parks while keeping safety in the forefront.

From the smallest features in Wonderland and Who-Ville to the larger-than-life elements in T72, Sunday River offers a variety of parks to meet the needs and abilities of its skiers and snowboarders. One of MacCallum’s charges for the season is ensuring diversified set ups that include all of Sunday River’s existing 75 features to expand upon the abundant offerings, as well as crisp and clean layouts.

With the coming launch of parent company Boyne Resorts’ new website for the Park Etiquette and Education Program (PEEPs), Sunday River terrain park enthusiasts are encouraged to take the PEEPs quiz to learn about safety and protocol in the terrain park. “I think it’s important to make sure that guests using the terrain parks are first and foremost having fun, but that they also know the proper etiquette and respect to give others,” says MacCallum.

In recent seasons, Sunday River expanded its park terrain with the 15-acre T72 terrain park trail, boasting HKD Method Head snowguns for producing ample amounts of snow in a short amount of time. Other resort terrain parks include the Flow State family boardercross course, the Wonderland start park, the Who-Ville small feature park, the 3D medium feature park, and T72’s Superpipe and Jib Park.

A four-season destination which boasts eight interconnected mountain peaks of world-class skiing and snowboarding, Sunday River is located in Newry, Maine, amidst the scenic Mahoosuc Range, and is a member of the Boyne Resorts family of resorts.
