June 5: L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools Opens at Sunday River
Sunday River is proud to host the only L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools program not located at an L.L.Bean retail establishment. L.L.Bean adventures at Sunday River are open to the public, starting June 5, offering beginner lessons/tours in archery, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and new this summer, stand-up paddleboarding yoga. Adventures start at $25 and are available Monday through Thursday until August 18. More information and class registration online at sundayriver.com.

June 16-18: 33rd Annual Trek Across Maine
Trek Across Maine will celebrate its 33rd anniversary of cycling for healthy air, but before these cyclists reach the sea, they leave from the mountains of Sunday River Resort. As the largest American Lung Association cycling event in the country, Trek Across Maine has raised more than $22 million and attracts over 2,000 cyclists. For more information, visit action.lung.org.

June 29: Sunday River Resort's Mountain Park Opens
Sunday River Resort will open its Mountain Park for a summer of fun, with activities including nearly 20 miles of downhill mountain biking and lessons through the resort's Mountain Bike School, plus zipline tours, twin zips, a bungee trampoline, climbing wall, an 18-net alpine disc golf, hiking trails, and scenic chairlift rides. The Mountain Park operates out of the resort's South Ridge base area from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Thursdays through Sundays starting June 29 through September 3, and select holiday periods. The fall schedule moves to weekends only after Labor Day (September 4) and through closing day on Columbus Day (October 9). July 1: 28th Annual Bethel Art Fair
Bethel's annual Art Fair features over 50 of Maine's finest artists, entertainers, and food vendors, and is an experiential delight for artists and visitors alike. From novice and professional openings to exhibits and events where guests create their own works of art, this annual two-day event kicks off on Friday and then centers itself on the Bethel Common from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday. July 7-8: River Rock Music Festival
Sunday River will host the third annual River Rock Music Festival with Maine-based Lighthouse Events July 7-8. River Rock Music Festival boasts such popular Christian Rock artists and bands like Unspoken and Ryan Stevenson on Friday night, and Dave Pettigrew, Manic Drive, and We Are Messengers on Saturday. July 8-9: 56th Annual Western Maine Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show
This year's Western Maine Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show will feature over a dozen exhibits, including one from the local Maine Mineral and Gem Museum, and will feature a raffle for a chance to win a Maine Aquamarine necklace valued at $350 (donated by Sunday River Gems). This annual event takes place at Telstar High School in Bethel, Maine from 10 a.m. until p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday. July 15: 60th Anniversary MollyOckett Day Festival
Bethel's biggest summer event, MollyOckett Day will celebrate its 60 anniversary on Saturday, July 15, and includes an art fair and parade, along with contests, live entertainment, a frog-jumping contest, food, and fireworks. For fitness enthusiasts, there's also the annual MollyOckett Day 5-mile run, 3-mile walk, and 1-mile kids' run. July 21-22: New England Forest Rally
The New England Forest Rally is an annual two-day car race that takes place on the back roads of Western Maine and Northern New Hampshire, and bases out of Sunday River Resort. Sanctioned by Rally America, this event is the final stop of six National Championship rallies that take place in the United States. In addition to the two-day national competition (which draws competitors from all over the US, Canada, and beyond), the event also includes two one-day regional competitions that are held concurrently with the national championship. Many local and regional enthusiasts like Bethel, Maine, native Chris Duplessis compete right alongside such top national competitors as Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, and David Higgins. July 29: Sunday River's Annual Tough Mountain Challenge
Sunday River's annual Tough Mountain Challenge is back! This is the ultimate obstacle running event for the 3,500 pre-registered thrill-seeking athletes signed up for this year's event. It is also undoubtedly the hardest race competition at Sunday River. Competitors face over a dozen obstacles, not to mention some of the most demanding alpine terrain that Sunday River boasts-all across a 5k course. Registration for the Tough Mountain Challenge is currently full; spectators can watch for free. A kids Mini Mountain Challenge for little athletes ages 4 through 12 is available on Sunday, July 30. August 6: 26th Annual Maine State Triathlon
A semi-challenging sprint event, set on one of the most scenic courses in New England, the Maine State Triathlon is considered a very "do-able" race that consists of a .46-mile swim in Songo Pond, a 14.9-mile bike, and a 3.6-mile run. Individual age categories, team categories (male, female, and mixed), novice, Athena, and Clydesdale classes are available; prizes will be given to the winners of each category. August 5: 10th Annual Maine State Kids' Triathlon

September 16: Bethel Harvestfest & Chowdah Cookoff
Come hungry because Bethel's annual Harvestfest and Chowdah Cookoff is a delicious way to savor the flavors and colors of fall in the Western Mountains of Maine. This annual celebration of fall flavors features mouthwatering creations from area restaurants including chowders, homemade pies, and Maine baked potatoes, not to mention a Farmer's Market, a wood-carving demonstration, and free horse-drawn wagon rides. October 7-8: Fall Festival Weekend
Celebrate one of Maine's most cherished seasons with Sunday River's favorite fall event-Fall Festival Weekend. October 7: 18th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship

October 8: 4th Annual New England Cornhole Championship
Sunday River Resort will host its 4th annual New England Cornhole Championship, an American Cornhole Association-sanctioned event, the Sunday of its annual Fall Festival Weekend. During this insanely popular event, a total of 32 teams vie for top honors and big money in South Ridge base area, which is also busy with outdoor BBQs, live music, and a Bloody Mary tent.
