NEWRY, MAINE (Summer 2017)-Headquartered at Sunday River Resort, the New England Forest Rally is an annual two-day stage rally that takes place on the back roads and logging tracks of Western Maine and Northern New Hampshire. Sanctioned by Rally America, the New England Forest Rally is one of six National Championship races that take place in the United States.
The two-day national competition at Sunday River set for July 21-22, 2017 features some of the world's best drivers, including former Rally America and X Games champion Travis Pastrana and six-time Rally America champion David Higgins. Many local and regional enthusiasts compete, too, including local favorite Chris Duplessis from Bethel, Maine.
Throughout the New England Forest Rally at Sunday River, spectators have a chance to get an up-close view of the incredible skills of these drivers as they twist, slide, turn, and jump their cars at speeds up to 100mph. Shuttle bus transportation to the Concord Pond Stage on Friday, July 21 and Sturtevant Pond Stage on Saturday, July 22 will be available to reserve closer to the event.
For a more luxurious day, passes are available for a VIP spectator bus. The VIP Bus includes a luxury motorcoach, catered lunch, and beverages, and cost $150 per person, per day.
Each morning will start with a "Parc Expose" in Sunday River's South Ridge area, where teams will parade their cars into an open area, allowing fans to gather, mingle with the competitors, get autographs, and see the cars up close. Park Exposes are approximately 1 hour and start at 9 a.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Music, food, and fun are also part of the New England Forest Rally, with a Rally Village featuring vendors, exhibitors and food throughout the two days, and an awards party with barbecue starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night.
Sunday River is located minutes from picturesque Bethel Village in Western Maine's Mahoosuc Mountains. A true four-season destination, the resort offers eight interconnected peaks of world-class skiing and snowboarding, the most slopeside lodging in the east including two resort hotels, and in the summer months activities including lift-serviced mountain biking, ziplines, and golf at the acclaimed Sunday River Country Club.
