April 26, 2014

Press Release

Newry, ME (Summer 2014) - Hundreds of married couples can't be wrong. Hosting your special day at Sunday River Resort is a beautiful, affordable, fun, and increasingly popular way to celebrate the most important commitment of your life. So much so, that this summer the resort added to its list of available event venues an outdoor terrace at the Jordan Hotel and a new upscale restaurant in the Grand Summit Hotel aptly named Camp.

"When you're planning a wedding, it is all about the details," Emily Bourassa, Wedding Sales Manager at Sunday River, says. "Couples who want to say 'I do' in the Mountains of Western Maine want a certain look, feel, and even menu. Our packages provide an outline that allows couples to customize as they go.  We have a dedicated team that will walk them through the planning process to create that special day."

Wedding packages start at only $49 per person and combines a wedding day menu featuring regional flavors and ingredients as well as a list of services.

Couples wanting to tailor their experience further can choose from the resort's Signature Services & Magical Moments menu, which includes bridal spa packages, groom golf packages, and even use of the on-mountain shuttle.

With location topping the list of what couples look for first and foremost, Sunday River makes the decision for an alpine wedding easy with multiple venue options

•  The Grand Ballroom at the Grand Summit Hotel is the picture of elegance and ideal for large affairs with room for up to 400 guests. The ballroom features a large dance floor and a private outdoor patio. Host either your outdoor ceremony or a spectacular cocktail hour on the patio and then invite your guests back into the ballroom for dinner and dancing. The hotel's newest restaurant Camp seats up to 300 and is the perfect setting for a true Maine affair, with rustic upscale décor and an equally as impressive menu.

• Continuing on the upscale rustic theme, and a bit more intimate and casual, Sliders Restaurant at the Jordan Hotel provides the feel of a mountain lodge with the service and amenities of a four-season resort. This post-and-beam restaurant with room for up to 120 guests features stunning views of the adjacent Jordan Bowl and easy access to hotel's new outdoor wedding venue. Both the large sun deck and the sprawling back lawn are available for an outdoor ceremony or cocktail reception.

• If your idea of a dream wedding involves riding to the top of a mountain on a chairlift, saying your vows at 3,600 feet, and then dancing the night away in a mid-mountain ski lodge, then the Peak Lodge is for you (and your party of up to 150 guests). Directly atop North Peak, our Peak Lodge offers direct access to an outdoor ceremony setting with breathtaking views of the Sunday River Valley and Mahoosuc Mountain Range. Have your reception inside the lodge and end your night with a starry Chondola lift ride back down before heading back to your hotel.

Once the location has been decided on, the icing on the wedding cake, so to speak, remains the many things to do while here. In fact, Sunday River will be featured in this year's Real Maine Wedding, the Sunday River Golf Club was recently named the "#1 Public Course in Maine" by Golfweek Magazine, and Yankee Magazine recently listed Sunday River as offering the "Best Mountain Park in New England" thanks to on-mountain activities like mountain biking, hiking, scenic lift rides, zipline tours.

The area has so much to do year-round that it's also been highlighted numerous times in Maine Magazine, Down East Magazine, and Yankee Magazine thanks to its unique blend of shops, restaurants, and easy access to outdoor recreation suitable for all ages and abilities.
