Families Save with Children’s Festival Week, January 9–13, 2017

Kids ski, stay, learn, and rent equipment for free when their guardian books three or more nights starting at $109 per person

January 2, 2017

Newry, ME (January 2, 2017)—Families looking to save on their next winter vacation should mark their calendars for Sunday River's Children's Festival Week taking place January 9-13, 2017.

During Sunday River's annual week-long event, adults who book three or more nights of lodging at a Sunday River Resort property earn free lift tickets, lodging, equipment rentals, lessons, and breakfast for their kids (between the ages of 3 and 12 years old). Adult lodging packages for lift tickets and lodging start at $109 per person.

By day, Children's Festival Week kids can take advantage of their free lesson with Sunday River's SnowSports School, while their parents venture off to explore the resort's eight interconnected mountain peaks and the most dependable snow in New England.

Once families reunite in the afternoon, more fun is in store, including a Pajama Bonanza planned for Monday, Jan. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Grand Summit Hotel; an exotic animal presentation by Wildlife Encounters on Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at the Grand Summit Hotel; fire-dancing and fireworks planned for Wednesday, Jan. 11 between 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. in South Ridge base area; and an Audio Body Light Show from 7-8 p.m. at the Grand Summit Hotel on Thursday, Jan. 12.

The fire-dancing performances and fireworks show are free; tickets to any of the Children's Festival Week acts at the Grand Summit Hotel are $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for 5 and under, and can be purchased online at sundayriver.com or at the hotel front desk.

For those families who stay through the following weekend, there also a Family Peak Dinner planned at Sunday River's mid-mountain Peak Lodge on January 14, where family guests can ride the iconic Chondola lift over lighted trails and dine with the resort's mascot, Eddy the Yeti. Reservations are required (800-543-2754).
