Three free slopeside concerts at Maine ski resort set for March 18, March 25, and April 8.

March 9, 2017

Newry, ME (March 9, 2017)—Après-ski done right is a true art form, which is why Sunday River has enlisted the best local artists for its third annual Spring Après Concert Series.

Highlighting "homegrown" Maine and New Hampshire musicians, the 2017 Spring Après Concert Series will include free performances March 18, March 25, and April 8, and feature two bands each night from 2-6 p.m. slopeside at the South Ridge Lodge. Each concert will also include an outdoor barbecue and family-friendly activities.

Sunday River's spring concert series kicks off an extensive lineup of warmer weather events, including the Eat the Heat Chili Cook-off and Firefighters Race presented by Bud Light (March 26), Spring Festival presented by Bud Light (March 31-April 1), Passholder Weekend (April 7-9), Pond-A-Palooza (April 8), and the Great Tailgate (April 15).

Spring Après Concert Series Schedule:

March 18: Homegrown Rock
From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., catch Bethel's own Graffiti as they turn the stage into a time machine with their classic rock sound. This kickoff concert will be followed by Gunther Brown-a five-piece Americana rock band influenced by Blue Rodeo, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, and R.E.M.-of Portland, Maine.

March 25: Homegrown Reggae
The second free spring concert takes a trip to the islands with two Maine-based reggae bands. On stage first is Zeme Libre of Portland, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., boasting a high-energy blend of Afrobeat, reggae, ska, and funk in their set list. Zem Libre has toured with such acts as Michael Franti and Spearhead, Wyclef Jean, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and the Wailers. Catch Blue Kwantsu of Harrison, Maine from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

April 9: Homegrown Funk
From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy Hambone-an energetic seven-piece soul jam band from Hallowell, Maine, with roots in blues, rock, funk, and hip hop. Harsh Armadillo of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, will close out the festivities from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and promises to move your feet for you with their combination of funk and hip hop.
