Sunday River Continues Snowmaking and Wins National Award

Ski resort named 2016 I AM a Snowmaker Winner.

April 5, 2016

Newry, ME (April 5, 2016)—Sunday River Resort in Maine fired up its snowguns last night on the Cascade and Ecstasy trails, and will continue to make snow on the Right Stuff trail tonight. As one of seven open ski areas in the Northeast, the resort's snowmaking efforts plan to deliver on a promise to be open until May 1, 2016 for Sunday River's free Ski Maynia event.

Today, the Sunday River snowmaking team has also won the  HKD I AM a Snowmaker Award, presented by Ski Area Management Magazine and sponsored by HKD Snowmakers. Each of the Six North American resorts nominated for the award demonstrated exceptional snowmaking capabilities and experience levels within each team.  The teams submitted a video to highlight the resorts' snowmakers, and the winner was decided by an online vote.

Sunday River started its 2015/16 winter season with a snowmaking test on September 22, and opened for skiing and snowboarding on October 19. Despite warmer temperatures throughout the winter, the resort credits its ability to consistently offer the most open terrain in the Northeast to the efforts of its snowmaking team.
