Second Annual Chef Summit Returns to the Slopes of Sunday River this Saturday

Day-of menu includes pancake cook-off and tasting events

Newry, ME (January 24, 2017)—Sunday River Resort and O'Maine Studios (Portland, Maine) will welcome well-known celebrity chefs from both near and far to the slopes of Sunday River Resort for Saturday's second annual Chef Summit on January 28, 2017.

"Last year's Chef Summit connected skiers and riders with some of Maine and New England's best and brightest chefs," Nick Lambert, VP of Sales and Marketing for Sunday River Resort, says. "It was a great way for us to enhance our guests' experience while also highlighting Maine's story as a food destination with those guests from out of state." 

In addition to the annual Tasting Event on Saturday from 6-9 p.m., there is also a first-ever Pancake Cook-Off on Saturday morning from 8-10.

Chefs signed on to participate in the pancake cook-off include Chef Dan Dumont, CMC, from the Maine-based Migis Hotel Group; Chef Emily Taylor of Boulder, Colorado's Birch Benders Micro-Pancakery; Chef Wendy Benney, regional executive chef for Sodexo USA; Chef David Squillante of Maine's Shipyard Brew Pub and Regatta Room; Chef Jennifer Watchorn from Sunday River's two Resort Hotels; Amy Halloran, pancake specialist and author of "The Bread Basket," and the nationally recognized ProStart High School Culinary Team.

Chef's participating in this year's tasting event include Chef Mike Wiley and Chef Andrew Taylor from Portland's Big Tree Hospitality (Hugo's, Eventide, and The Honey Paw); Chef Kyle Robinson and Chef Yazmin Saraya Jeen from Portland's Five Fifty-Five; Chef Troy Mains from Freeport's Harraseeket Inn; Chef Matt Ginn from Portland's EVO; Chef Doug Papows from the Pigeon Cove at Rockport, Massachusetts's Emerson Inn by the Sea; and Chef Harding Lee Smith and Chef Sean Doherty of The Rooms Restaurants in Portland and Sunday River's Mountain Room at the Peak Lodge.

Tickets for the pancake cook-off are $15 and tickets for the Tasting Event are $79. All tickets are available to purchase online at sundayriver.com
