Semifinalists Set at Sunday River’s Seventh Annual Dumont Cup

Newry, Maine (March 27, 2015)-The Seventh Annual Dumont Cup, the largest pro-am freeskiing competition in the East, took off at Sunday River Resort today with 74 amateur competitors vying for spots to test their skills against such major professional freeskiers as Bobby Brown and Joss Christensen tomorrow. After two qualifying sessions, 20 competitors will move on to Saturday's semifinals. Created by professional freeskier and 10-time X Games medalist Simon Dumont, The Dumont Cup, is the only AFP platinum-rated slopestyle jam.
Located on Sunday River's dedicated terrain park, T72, The Dumont Cup course includes six rails and three jumps. Of the 20 semifinalists from today, 12 will advance to face nine professional freeskiers in the finals on Saturday afternoon. Professional competitors include Olympic Gold medalist Joss Christensen, X Games Gold medalist Bobby Brown, and Dumont Cup 2010 champion Alex Schlopy. Other participating professional freeskiers include: Russ Henshaw, James Woods, Matt Walker, Evan McEachran, Alex Bellemare, and Chris Laker. The 2015 Dumont Cup winner will receive $20,000 and huge bragging rights.
