Bethel & Western Maine

Sunday River is located six miles from the town of Bethel, Maine, a classic New England community with an energy all it's own. Bethel offers a variety of amenities and activities in the town's historic village as well as in the surrounding area.  Outdoor recreation drives the community, and in addition to great skiing and riding you'll find fishing and watersports on the Androscoggin River and nearby lakes, numerous hiking and camping options in Grafton Notch and Evan's Notch State Parks as well as the White Mountain National Forest just across the border in New Hampshire, three cross-country skiing centers, two golf courses, dogsledding, snowmobiling and more.

The local area also boasts a growing restaurant scene that mixes cozy pubs with fine dining, international options and more.  If you're planning to spend the night in the area and want to venture outside the resort you'll find numerous options including rental properties, inns and bed & breakfasts.

Gould Academy, a private college preparatory school, also calls Bethel and Sunday River home. Known for its competitive ski and snowboard teams, including the weekend-only Gould Academy Competition Program, it is paramount in the Bethel community.

Serving the Bethel and Sunday River area is the Mountain Explorer shuttle, offering free transportation during winter between town and the resort with stops for most lodging properties and well as dining and entertainment venues.
