Olympians and Local Skiers Throw Down at Sunday River’s Bust 'N' Burn
The freestyle mogul competition lights up White Heat
Newry, ME (April 6, 2025) — Sunday River Resort hosted the highly anticipated Bust 'N' Burn freestyle mogul competition over the weekend, where Olympians and local talent took on the bumps on White Heat.
The event drew a stacked field of competitors, from Olympians, World Cup athletes, and former U.S. Ski Team members who have represented the United States on the world stage, to hometown skiers from the Bethel area and rising junior talent from across New England.
The Men’s and Women’s Divisions offered a total of $22,000 in cash prizes, with first place earning $7,000, second place $3,000, and third place $1,000.The Junior Division featured three age categories: 8–9, 10–11, and 12–14.
2025 Bust 'N' Burn Results
- Men’s Division: 1st – Camden Lewis, 2nd – Riley McGuire McCarthy, 3rd – Hunter Bailey
- Women’s Division: 1st – Morgan Smith, 2nd – Taylor Lewis, 3rd – Dory Michaud
This year’s top podium spots went to Camden Lewis and Morgan Smith. Lewis is a student at Gould Academy and recently competed at the U.S. Freestyle Junior National Championships in Park City, Utah. Smith is a seasoned mogul skier who represented the U.S. at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Bust 'N' Burn made its return in 2024, this year marking the second year back for the competition on White Heat. Competitors were judged on both time and style, with the 750-foot mogul course featuring two jumps on the steepest, widest, longest trail in the East.
